Obituary

Roxanne Richardson Wood, wife of Stephen Paul Wood, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at her home in Wilmore, Kentucky. She was born in Paris, Kentucky, the daughter of Leanore Grinager and the late Dick Wray Richardson. Her former husbands were Michael Koontz, Carmel, Indiana and Bill Austin, who is deceased.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Kraig Koontz and wife Kim, Wilmore; Karmel Mayo and husband Robert, Birmingham, AL; David Allen Austin, Lexington; her 8 grandchildren, Kendra and Kelsey Koontz; and Kassia, Jotham, Chassity, Justinian, Constancy and Keenan Mayo; and brother, Randall Richardson and wife Carla, Wilmore.

Roxanne was a teacher in the Jessamine County Educational System, having taught first grade for 33 years at Brookside and Warner Schools. She was the Founder and Director of the Wilmore School of Christian Ballet. She also, along with her husband, served as co-pastors of the Wilmore Vineyard Christian Fellowship.

Roxanne was devoted to her family. She enjoyed music and played the piano. She liked hiking, was a talented seamstress, delighted in working in her flower gardens and being with all things beautiful. Highest above everything though was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Friday, October 23, 5-8 pm at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing. Funeral Service, Saturday, October 24, 11 am at Clark Chapel, Wilmore UMC, officiated by Rev. Bob Bellman.
