Elsie H. Wainscott, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009. She was born July 4th 1920 in Lawrence County to the late Charles and Elizabeth Skaggs Hunter. This resulted in nurses training at Johns Hopkins University and employment in New York state area. Family roots pulled Elsie back to Kentucky, and echoing her mother’s restaurant work, she began a second career as a waitress at many iconic Lexington establishments including the Phoenix Hotel, the Emery Hotel, Rogers Restaurant and Two Keys Tavern. Her later years were filled with her love of cross word puzzles, the dice game, Yahtzee, and her love of animals.
