Online Obituaries for Lexington

James Orval Watson of Lexington passed away on Nov 5, 2017.  He was 75.  Since his cancer diagnosis in 2010, Jim got serious with his bucket list and decided to see the world.   He saw all 50 states and traveled with family members to Spain, Mexico, Argentina, the Maritime Provinces, Alaska and the Yukon, and to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Never one to believe he could not do something, he embraced his friends and family as he shared these adventures with them. He read extensively and especially enjoyed researching the Civil War.  If you visited Gettysburg National Park with him, you knew you were in for a long day. He was a member of Big Blue Nation, a loyal but frustrated Cleveland Browns fan, an avid golfer, and overall sports enthusiast.  In his younger years, he played semi-pro baseball in Lexington.

Jim’s family includes his wife Kathleen Pisano Watson, his son Mark of Mexico City, his sister Kay Wagner of Louisiana, 3 cousins; Steve Weissman , Randy Weissman, and  Barry Norman brother and sister in law Kendall and Delia Siboni Kelly and sister in law Karol Fleegal. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Jim is a veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was on the capsule recovery team for John Glenn in 1962. He graduated from Henry Clay High School and Cumberland County College (NJ) with an AA degree in Journalism.

He was employed by Sylvania Glass in Versailles and Wheaton Glass in Millville NJ. Upon his retirement from the glass industry, he spent a summer working at Yellowstone National Park. The following two summers were spent as a media gate attendant at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore MD.

Jim’s passion for life brought him many friends in many parts of the country.  He would want to thank you for all the good times and great memories.
