Obituary

Denton Patterson, 73, of Lexington, Kentucky and the Husband of Pat Patterson,
died Thursday, December 8, 2011. He was born December 5, 1938 to the late Ted
and Mary Potter Patterson.

In addition to his wife, Denton is survived by his five children, Rita (Jim)
Willcoxon, Todd (Jennifer) Patterson, Kim (Craig) Galvin, Sherie (Doug)
Omohundro, Kristine (Darren) Lafoe; his nine precious grandchildren, Erica and
Grant Willcoxon, Tara and Shelby Patterson, Noah Galvin, Alex and Hunter
Omohundro, Kennedy and Evan Lafoe; his sister, Patty (Bob) Christy; his niece,
Edith Patterson; his nephew, Robert (Dawn) Christy; and his faithful companion
and loving dog, Ellie Mae.

Denton was from Neon, Kentucky. He went to Whiteburg High School and graduated in 1957. He received his bachelor of art in education from Pikeville College. After teaching math for seven years, he decided to leave education and venture into business. He began his career in business by starting his own cabinet sales and distribution in Floyd County, Kentucky. He also had a concrete block business. In 1972, Denton moved to Lexington, Ky. He worked in cabinet sales in Vandieren Hardware. Shortly after he went into a business partnership with Les Myers at Kentucky Kitchen Planning. In 1984 he opened up his own company, the All American Cabinet Company. Following that he was a business partner with Frank Sadler owning and managing The Cabinet Shop and storage units. He sold The Cabinet Shop to the Mollering Company and started The Patterson Cabinet Company in Nicholasville and ran that until his retirement in spring 2010.

Denton was a loving and generous husband, loyal and committed father, loving,
caring, and compassionate grandfather and a wild and crazy friend who was full
of surprises. His favorite times were spent playing with his 9 grandchildren,
spoiling them so much it was hard for them to return back to their parents. He
never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. His work ethic and drive were
unmatched by no one. He loved UK Football and Basketball and going to
Keeneland. Those that knew him would say he was one of a kind, a real
character.

He has battled a disease called Myleodysplastic Syndrome MDS for almost three
years and it later turned into Leukemia. He traveled to Houston, Texas at MD
Anderson to seek treatment from the MDS expert, Dr. Garcia Manero and did
everything within his power to stay alive. He fought the fight and never gave
up as he alway taught all of his children to never give up.

Our family is so grateful for the support we received from friends and family.
We are especially thankful for Danny Settles and Betty Lucas as they were by
Denton's side always for the past three years. We are also grateful to
Rahysolinn (Rosie) of the Almost Family home health care organization. In his
final weeks they provided excellent care for him in our home. And last by not least, the family thanks Dr. Liddle, Karon, and the nursing staff on the 3rd and 6th floor at St. Joseph Hospital.

He will be missed dearly by everyone.
