Obituary

Michael Shan Berry was born July 23, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the oldest son born to Mae Frances Berry. He grew up in Cleveland and attended Cleveland public schools. He was introduced to the Cleveland Branch Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR) in 1975. He married Xandria Pari Johnson November 26, 1975. Their union was blessed with three children. Their young family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1979 where he became a devoted member of the Akron Branch IDMR. Michael and his family relocated to Lexington, Kentucky in 1984 where he continued his indefatigable service as an officer and minister in the Lexington Branch IDMR.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Frances Berry, December 25, 2009 and survived by two brothers, Larry William Berry and Ricky Berry; wife Xandria Berry; two sons, Michael Gabriel Berry and Solomon Immanuel Berry; and daughter, Lacresha Berry; seven grand and four step grandchildren, Tayte Mason Patton and Tyler Jacob Patton, Siera Iman Berry, Lovelii Mikaye Élana Berry, Immanuel Lee Berry, Styles Justice Berry, Zaymarion Love Campbell, Kyree Lafon Berry, LaRon MyKell Berry, Denise Keisha Stengl, Lucienne Tyese Stengl and two aunts, Ethel Berry and Florine Berry; one uncle, Leon Berry and a host of cousins and friends.

Michael was endearingly known to the Lexington Branch IDMR members as Papa Beary because of his gentle nurturing spirit. He provided like unto a father for those whom he loved and it gave him great joy and pleasure to cook, serve and ensure everyone’s contentment for those gathered around him even as he lay in his hospital bed.

Michael’s Legacy is his life’s testament: the true gospel of the kingdom. He desired that we not dwell on him after the flesh, but for whom he really was, Yahshua within. To his dying day, Michael implored brethren to stay in class and endure to the end. He beseeched those who were once in regular attendance to come back before it was eternally too late and asked Yahweh to shed his abundant mercy and grace upon them that they too may be a birthed son and partake of eternal life. Michael exemplified inner peace and the fervent patient wait as he looked forward and hastened unto the transition from this natural existence into the realm of eternity without fear, for it is not the end but a new beginning; a lesson all sons must learn.
