Obituary

Darleen McGovern Carpenter, 59, the loving wife of James Louie, slipped from our arms but not our hearts on Monday, August 24, 2009. She was born on May 9, 1950 in Louisville to Dorothy McGovern and the late Joseph McGovern. She was a member of St. Peter Church, an employee the University of Kentucky and an extremely generous and genuine person.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Dominique “Nikki” Carpenter (Jackie Rhea) Sams; two grandchildren, Hannah and Tate Sams; two sisters, Phyllis McGovern Gillespie and Karen McGovern Beam; her brother, Dennis “Duke” McGovern, all of Lexington; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Angela McGovern.

Funeral Information

A will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2 pm, at St. Peter Church, followed by a Gathering of Family and Friends at Clark Legacy Center from 5-7 pm.
