Obituary for Herman Bertram Chiles

Herman Bertram Chiles, 81, of Nicholasville passed away at his home on February 9, 2018. Herman was born July 20, 1938 to the late Andrew Harrison and Elizabeth Casey in Hawesville, KY.

Herman retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country for 23 years. Herman was a member of Committee of 101 for 31 years, served 10 years in the Blue Grass Lions Club and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Herman was an avid UK Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds fan, he also supported the Lexington Legends. Herman loved to travel and had visited all 50 states.

Aside from his parents, Herman is preceded in death by sisters Ruth Plumley and Judy Clark; brothers Robert Chiles and James Abrams.

Herman is survived by sons Stephen, Ronald and Mark (Jill) Chiles; daughter Donna (Barry) Boston; grandchildren Joshua Chiles, Alicia Chiles, Tiffany (John) Boston, Danielle Boston, Lindsey Chiles, Isaiah Chiles, Amanda (Jordan) Driggers; great grandchildren Charlotte Driggers and Brentlee Chiles; sisters Helen Adams, Linda Thomason and Parley Smiley.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday, February 12, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Rd. in Nicholasville.

Funeral service begins at 11 AM, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Clark Legacy Center. Burial will be at Camp Nelson following the funeral service at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to Hospice of the Blue Grass.
