Obituary for Sherman T. Dozier

Sherman T. Dozier, 83, husband of Sue Whitlow Dozier, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018. A native of Woodford County, he was born on September 4, 1934, to the late Clifford Temple and Sarah Simpson Dozier. Mr. Dozier was a 1956 graduate of the University of Kentucky.Mr. Dozier was an electrical engineer for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of First Christian Church. Mr. Dozier was also a member of the Morgan's Men Association and the Kentucky Historical Society. He was a founding member of the Greater St.Louis University of Kentucky Alumni Club and was a lifetime member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.
He was also a University of Kentucky Fellow. He loved history, particularly, Civil War, and genealogy. He researched the Dozier family line back to France, circa, 1600s. UK basketball was a great passion as well and he spent many games taking stats.He wrote his own memoir, titled Chasing Radars, which chronicled his professional and personal life.In addition to his wife, of 60 years, he is survived by his daughter, Amy Dozier (Christopher) Samuelson, GA; his sister, Betty J. Dozier, Versailles; and his granddaughter, Katherine Lanier Samuelson. He is survived by his niece, Jenny Burke, MS; great niece, Kelly Juzikis, AL; and her family.He is survived by his sister-in-law, Charlotte Richardson (Ken), CA. He is preceded in death by his twin sister, Shirley Dozier Tinnon and brother-in-law, Earl Tinnon.Also preceded in death by brother-in-law, Charles Whitlow. In addition, he is survived by nieces Vicki Whitlow and Susan McWhorter and their families.Funeral Service will be Saturday January 13,2018, 1 pm,at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill,officiated by Rev.Marcus Lynn. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Honorary Casketbearers will be the Versailles High School Class of 1952. Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home, and on Saturday from 12:00 pm until the time of service.
