Obituary for Raymond John Casner

Raymond John Casner, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018. The husband of Alice Higgs Casner, he was born October 22, 1928 to the late Erie J. Casner and Elsie Kumbera Berryman in Harpersville, Ohio. A veteran of the US Army, he served with the 28th General Hospital in Croix Chapeau, France, was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church and the American Tree Farm System with the American Forest Foundation. A Master Tree Farmer and conservationist, he enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting and watching the squirrels and birds go about their day. Raymond graduated from Duns Moore Business College in Harrisonburg, Virginia then continued his education at Carson Newman College, University of Tennessee and the University of Kentucky. As an accountant, Raymond was certified to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, a Kentucky Colonel, and an active member of the Woodford County Senior Citizens. He was, to put it simply, a good man.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, Alice H. Casner, Raymond leaves behind his daughter, Sheril Elizabeth Casner Perry of Lexington and grandson, John-Stewart Perry.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward S. Casner, Harry J. Casner, and Henry O. Casner.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
