Obituary of Janene Slone

Janene Slone, 79, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024. The wife of Elva Slone, Janene was born January 14, 1945, to the late Elbert Wendell Mefford and Betty Louise Schaeffer Hamilton, in Dayton, Ohio A Member of the Open Bible Church and First Church of God in Frankfort, KY, she loved to sing gospel songs, watching westerns, working crossword puzzles, and knitting. Janene was a true homemaker, a devoted wife, a hardworking and loving mother and Mamaw who dedicated herself to God and Family. Spending time making clothing for her family, enjoying each moment with her grandchildren, and riding around with Elva were precious to Janene. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.  

In addition to her loving husband of 56 years, Elva Slone, Janene leaves behind her daughter, Michelle (Johnny) Hartman of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Tiffany Slone, Dustin Hartman, Joshua Hartman, Joseph Hartman, Heather Hartman, Cody Hartman, and Shawn Hartman; and her special friends, Josephine Elswick of Frankfort and Dee Ann Sawyer of Frankfort.  

Janene was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Wendell Mefford and Betty Louise Schaeffer Hamilton and a brother, Fred Mefford. 

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00p, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd, Frankfort, with Pastor Thomas Denney officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, with Joshua Hartman, Joseph Hartman, Cody Hartman, Shawn Hartman, Dustin Hartman, and Johnny Hartman serving as Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 4:00p until 7:00p on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
